At age 32, American author Elizabeth Gilbert divorced from her husband and took off around the world to start over. She recorded the rejuvenating experience in her memoirs, “Eat, Pray, Love,” which later became a New York Times Best Seller.

Gilbert’s story inspired thousands of people to literally start their lives over and seek fresh, new experiences. If you’ve ever been stuck in the doldrums of daily living, you can understand this desire to take off into the unknown.

But you don’t have to pack up and travel to Italy for a fresh start. Sometimes just moving to a new place is enough. Moving away can offer a whole host of benefits, both physical and spiritual. Once you get past the headache of finding a place to live, packing, and unpacking, you can start to receive the revitalizing effects of a life begun anew.

Escape Mental Stagnation

The demands of your boss, your co-workers, and your neighbors can grate on you until you’ve reached the point of mental exhaustion. Doctors often recommend taking vacation time to shake the dust off of your shackles and refresh your mind, and while health benefits have been clinically proven to result from time away, these benefits can fade within months.

Starting over in an entirely new place allows you to get a new lease on life, and people who have uprooted themselves have reported lower stress levels, better mood, and improved quality of sleep.

Sometimes hormone-correcting pills aren’t the only answer to depression.

Become More Independent

Everyone has networks of support consisting of family and friends, but oftentimes they fall back on other people when they should be growing themselves. If you’ve never moved in your life, the way you live is probably heavily influenced by others.

This influence can be negative because pressure from family and friends may lead you to deny your interests and stagnate the kinds of relationships you’re capable of having.

Moving away will allow you to stand on your own two feet and discover the strength of your backbone and the thickness of your skin.

Gain Physical Benefits

Because staying in the same place can cause mounting stress and poor mental health, you’re likely to experience that physically. Multiple clinical studies have linked poor mental health with negative side effects like stress eating, poor sleep patterns, and anxiety.

In fact, one study printed in the journal Psychotherapy estimated that between 50 and 70 percent of a physician’s normal case load deals with patients whose medical ailments can be directly connected to psychological factors.

You can escape the physical strain by moving away. Allowing yourself to let your stress return to normal levels will result in better quality of life and decrease your chances for things like hair loss, hypertension, obesity, and heart disease.

Moving away could literally save your life.

Better Job Opportunities

If you live in a small city or town, chances are you will have hit a wall professionally. Moving away can be especially important if you’re young—several cities offer better career tracks more suited to your resume.

And moving to start a career is a good first impression on an employer. They’ll know you’re committed to your work.

Where Should I Go?

Where you’re moving and where you choose to live will depend largely on your reasons for taking off. If you want a career change, research some of the top cities for young professionals. If you want a healthier, less stressful lifestyle, try the country. And if you need some adventure in your life, look into moving overseas.

Once you’ve settled on a location, you’ve got to make plans for living arrangements. If you’re still hesitant about how permanent a change you want, try renting an apartment or house. If interested in homes for rent, try RentalAds.com. But if you’re sure that this is a leap of faith you want to take, you may want to look into purchasing a home and starting to set out your roots.

Of all the things that add stress and emotional upheaval to our day-to-day lives, there’s perhaps nothing quite as painful as a broken heart. And the hurt is not just emotional.

Bereavement and mental trauma can not only cast us down, they can actually endanger our physical health. According to a recent study from the Penn State College of Medicine, both men and women experience increased heart rate and blood pressure when they’re put in stressful and painful situations.
This leads to an increased likelihood of suffering from coronary problems. That’s right—you can actually be physically harmed from a broken heart.

But let’s put on the brakes way before we get to that stage. Here are some tips to help you deal with the stress of a painful emotional event and get your mental health back in shape.

Lose Yourself in Something Else

After actress Emma Thompson separated from husband Kenneth Branagh, she fell into a depression so deep she admitted later that she should have sought help. What saved her? Writing the Oscar-winning screenplay for “Sense and Sensibility.”

“I used to crawl from the bedroom to the computer and just sit and write, and then I was all right, because I was not present,” Thompson said. “Sense and Sensibility really saved me from going under, I think, in a very nasty way.”

Distract yourself in a similar way with a book, laps at the local swimming pool, or a hobby you’ve been neglecting. The best activities either engage your entire attention or demand physical participation.

Talk to Friends and Family

“I get by with a little help from my friends,” the Beatles sang.

Talk to those around you that love and support you. Venting your emotions can be a positive, relieving feeling, and your friends and family will likely want to help.

Refocus on the love that you do have in your life, and the direction of both your mind and heart will likely change.

Change Your Day-to-Day Routine

One of the worst parts of a mental upheaval is returning to your daily schedule when your entire emotional landscape has changed.

Instead of returning to the same drudgery, take yourself out of your worn-down paths and try something new. Take a part-time job or join a gym or book club to meet new people and be part of a fresh environment. It can really help you to clear your head.

Get a New Pet

If you’re looking to fill a void in your life, what could be better than a loyal, cuddly animal? Pets listen, don’t judge, and ask for nothing in return other than food, fresh water, and a place to go to the bathroom.

The benefits of pets aren’t just emotional, either. Multiple studies have shown that people who have pets tend to live longer, more independent lives than those who don’t have a furry little friend.

Keep Calm and Carry On

Dealing with a broken heart—whether it was caused by death, divorce, or a painful breakup—severely alters your emotional makeup. It can take long amounts of time to completely recover, but there is no reason you can’t remove some of the stress attendant with your condition.

Talk, listen, cry, and lose yourself in other activities until you feel some of the pain start to lift. Your mental well-being is just as important as your physical health, and you should treat it as such.

Get the Most Out of Your Workout

– How Technology Can Help

Studies show that 60% of Americans don’t get the recommended amount of physical activity. No wonder more than two-thirds of Americans are overweight.

Committing to an exercise plan is easy. All you have to do is say that you want to exercise. Sticking to that commitment is the difficult part. There are many reasons why people give up on exercise. Boredom and lack of results are two common reasons.

Using technology to enhance your workout routine can really enhance your results and keep you from getting bored. Here are a few different things you can do with technology that can help you get the most out of your workout.
<img src="http://www.rejewvenation.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/images.jpg" alt="" title="images" width="232" height="217" class="alignleft size-full wp-image-234"style="float:left;margin: 0px 30px 0px 0px" />

Use Your iPod

One way to help prevent boredom during a workout is to listen to music. By popping in your headphones and turning on your favorite playlist of songs, working out can become more bearable. You can focus on the song and even sing along if you want so you aren’t focusing on how difficult the task at hand is. Whether you have an iPod, an iPhone or some other music playing device, there is bound to be an application that suits your music playing needs.

Use an App

If you have a smart phone, it is really more like a small computer. There are thousands of applications out there that can help you get more out of your workouts.

Some applications help you record your previous workouts so you can challenge yourself to set a personal record. Other applications can create a workout routine for you so you don’t get bored. And still other applications can just give you ideas of things you can incorporate into your current routine.

If you can’t find an application that fits you, you can perform an iPhone jailbreak in order to have access to more applications that aren’t in the iPhone market.

Not sure to go about unlocking your iPhone? iPhoneLox is the “number one unlocking software with constant upgrades, constant customer service, and a money back guarantee if you aren’t satisfied with your product.

After unlocking your iPhone, you will have access to a huge number or otherwise unavailable applications to help you improve your phone’s performance and your workout.

Plugin for Your Next Workout

There is no point in going to the gym and wasting time on an ineffective routine. Plugging into technology can help you avoid those unproductive days at the gym and get more out of your workout. There is nothing more satisfying than coming home after a workout and knowing you worked hard.

<img src="http://www.rejewvenation.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/island.jpg" alt="weight loss aid" title="island" width="197" height="168" class="alignleft size-full wp-image-216"style="float:left;margin: 5px 30px 0px 0px" />Imagine that you’re traveling to a remote island in the ocean. Chances are you won’t understand the language. And why should you, if you’ve never been there before.

The smart thing to do is take someone with you who does understand the language and will help you understand what is going on.

Shopping for a good weight loss aid can be as hard as communicating with people that speak a different language.

Weight loss pill manufacturers throw out jargon and terms that you may not understand. But you need to understand them so you don’t make a bad choice.

Learning the Language of Weight Loss

The good news is that learning to speak “weight loss” is 100x easier than learning a foreign language. A foreign language has thousands of words and grammar rules. A weight loss aid only has a few important features.

There are three things that you need to know so you can make an informed choice:

1. Ingredients

There are thousands of ingredients in the weight loss world. Relax and take a deep breath! Most of those ingredients are worthless. You only need to know about the few that are good.

•	<img src="http://www.rejewvenation.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/african-mango.jpg" alt="weight loss aid" title="african mango" width="200" height="194" class="alignright size-full wp-image-217"style="float:right;margin: 5px 0px 0px 25px" />Green Tea – The best weight loss ingredient! It burns fat, increases metabolism, raises energy levels, and suppresses appetite.
•	African Mango – Boosts the metabolism of fat and decreases cravings.
•	Caffeine Anhydrous – A <a style="color:blue; text-decoration:underline;"href="http://medical-dictionary.thefreedictionary.com/thermogenesis ">thermogenic ingredient. It promotes the burn of calories and gives you more energy.
•	Cissus Quadrangularis – Promotes weight loss and joint health.
•	Chromax – A mineral that enhances the body’s production of insulin. It improves your body’s use of glucose and lowers blood sugar levels.

2. Clinical Research

Sometimes the ingredients in a weight loss aid will be clinically researched. Research provides proof that an ingredient is safe and effective. It is a sign of quality if an ingredient has been tested.

Occasionally a weight loss aid will be clinically tested. This does not happen very often unfortunately. Weight loss aids are not regulated by the FDA and do not have to be tested. Some manufacturers chose on their own to test a product. If you find one of these, you are in luck. Clinical research is a distinguishing characteristic of weight loss pills that work.

3. Consumer Reviews

At the end of the day, consumer reviews are your best friend. They are written by people who, just like you, are not experts; but they’ve tried weight loss aids and seen the results.

People will let you know if they experience side effects and if the pill helped them lose weight. Their opinions are objective and will help you make an informed decision.
<break>
<break>
Hopefully, you never get lost in the middle of the ocean, because if that happens, you’re out of luck. But if you’re just looking for a good weight loss aid, you’re in good shape. You’ll be able to past the smoke and mirrors of advertisers to the nitty gritty. Thanks to your newly attained knowledge, you are fluent in weight loss.

In our previous post, we discussed the benefits of strength training and discussed how fitting in a few more machines into your workout can help you improve your overall heart health, self-esteem, and weight loss.

However, there is a yin to our yang, and a dark side to taking exercise a little too far. Overtraining is becoming a serious problem among athletes, body builders, and even weekend warriors as they struggle to keep up a grueling pace long despite the fact the body can no longer keep up with the stress.

The key to proper exercise is to find a balance between your intensity and frequency, so you can keep the following side effects to a minimum.

Side Effects of Overtraining

•	Persistent muscle soreness or general aches and pains
•	Feelings of Heaviness or Depression, lack of motivation
•	Inability to finish a session (that you previously found easy to complete)
•	Fatigue, exhaustion, and lack of energy
•	Insomnia and headaches
•	A plateau in weight loss or performance

How to Counteract these Symptoms

Many people automatically assume that the best way to treat overtraining is to start working on a different part of the body: after all, you’re working different muscle groups, so obviously you’re giving your body a chance to heal, right?

Wrong!

Although there is a kernel of truth in thinking that switching up your routine from day to day can help prevent the onset of overtraining, one of the best ways to recovery from the workout stress is to give yourself a small break.

You don’t have to give up exercise completely – just give yourself a few days of rest and relaxation, then ease up on your workout intensity. While you’re chilling at home on the couch, be sure to provide your body with a wide variety of fruits and vegetables, in order to ensure that your muscles have the nutrients they need to repair and restore connective tissues.

Additionally, many people find that by getting enough sleep each night, they are more likely to have the energy they need to push through their workout rut and take control of their weight loss once again.

Although many of us may think that strength training is just another obligation, something we have to do alongside our more enjoyable cardio activities such as jogging or tennis, keep in mind that the following benefits are definitely worth the extra effort it takes to pick a machine and start pumping those weights.

Health Benefits of Strength Training

Better balance and stability: If you’ve ever seen those supermodels who look so thin that they’d blow away, then you might want to keep in mind that Being healthy is more than just being slim and sexy. The more muscle you build, the less likely you’ll be knocked around by the slightest breeze.

Better Heart Health: Strength training significantly lowers your chance of coronary failure and stroke by lowering your LDL (bad) levels of cholesterol and triglyceride count. The more muscle you build, the stronger your heart and the more efficient it becomes at pumping blood throughout the body.

Better Self-Esteem: There’s a difference between looking gaunt and looking toned, and that’s pure muscle, baby. If you’re planning on losing weight, be sure to balance your cardio with your strength training. With lean muscle, you have the added self-esteem of knowing that you look as good and healthy as you feel rather than simply feeling small and thin.

Better Weight-Loss: Cardio is often dubbed the king of the weight loss world due to its ability to get the heart pumping and the calories burning. However, you can still burn extra calories through strength training, and studies have shown that regular strength training can improve your body’s ability to metabolize fat, meaning you’ll not only lose weight but keep it off in the long run.

Get Those Muscles Moving

Staying fit and staying healthy requires a healthy diet and regular exercise, and by regular exercise, we don’t mean the same number of laps around the track every day. Keep your workout fresh and fun by trying new machines and adding strength training to your workout regimen. Not only will you feel good, but you’ll look good as well.

1. Catch some Zzs: Sleep deprivation can lead to mood swings and irritability, so getting enough sleep can help put a little sparkle back into your dead-eyed look. Sometimes a twenty-minute nap can leave you refreshed and ready to take on the world.

2. Start a hobby: Even if you feel as though you have no creative talent or abilities whatsoever, taking up a hobby can result in a more satisfying and engaging life. Branch out by learning some new cooking skills. Relieve your stress by writing haikus while doing the laundry.

3. Find a Friend: Too often we focus on ourselves – what we want, what we need, what we have to do to be happy. However, the best solution is to shift our focus from our miserable selves to serving someone else. A good friend can give you the support you need during tough times, and a smiling face can help cheer your day.

4. Meditation: Even if you’re not religious, studies have shown that those who allow time for quiet meditation are more likely to lead healthier lives. Not only does finding a religion give you a focus outside of yourself to do good, but it can help you feel a spiritual connection to the world around you. If you’re atheist, then a few moments of deep thought may be enough to add a little extra focus to your life.

5. Eat some chocolate: Indulging in a little chocolate on occasion won’t completely blow your diet, and in fact, dark chocolate is rich in anti-oxidants that can help you lead a healthier happier life. So savor a small piece of your favorite sweet.

6. Smile: Even if you don’t feel like smiling, moving those muscles can trigger the release of serotonin in your brain, which will help you feel good overall. Additionally, people are more attracted to a person with a confident smile than to those with persistent frowns.

Final Thoughts

You don’t have to climb Mount Everest or win a nobel prize to lead a meaningful and engaging life, and hopefully with these easy to try tips, you can start living a happier one. Make each day worth living, and as the old adage states, “When life gives you a hundred reasons to cry, show life that you have a thousand reasons to smile.”

Everyone has their trigger points that send their blood pressure through the roof: work, school, relatives, sports, commitments etc. Certain levels of stress can be good for you, giving you the added edge you need to complete a difficult project, but too much stress can add additional wear and tear on your body, leaving you emotionally, mentally, and physically exhausted.

By taking time to unwind and de-stress, you’ll not only put give your body a chance to recover physically but you’ll be able to keep yourself from hitting that horrifying breaking point that sends friends and family scurrying behind closed doors.

Try any or all of these relaxing tips and see which works best for you. Don’t be afraid to try something new, you never know what will work unless you test it out for yourself.

5 Ways to Relax

•	Breathe deeply. Focus on breathing from the lower abs and chest. Turn, “Out with the bad air, in with the good,” into your personal mantra.

•	1 minute vacations. If you can’t escape from your office cubicle, set your phone or watch timer to 1 minute, close your eyes, and imagine yourself elsewhere. The beach. The moon. They’re your thoughts, so you have no limit.

•	Let your tongue loll. No, not the “laugh out loud” lol (though that’s a good for relaxation too). Normally the tongue is held tight against the teeth. Instead, relax the jaw and just let your tongue hang loose for a few moments.

•	Slow down. If you feel like you’re rushing, then you’re probably stressing. Moving quickly doesn’t necessarily mean your project will get done that much faster.

•	Listen to the classics. No school like the old school. There’s a certain calming charm about old music, whether it’s classical or simply your favorite song from the 60s, bask the slow-time tunes of times when lyrics actually meant something.

Life is crazy. Whether you’re working a full time job or going to school to earn your degree, if you’re having your first child or wishing your 10th grandchild happy birthday, life can speed on by in a whirl of priorities and hectic scheduling.

So let’s take a moment to breathe shall we?

A Breath of Fresh Air

Breathing is a natural part of life. Even newborn infants are born with the survival instinct to breathe.

If you’ve ever watched a children sleeping peacefully, you’d have noticed how their round tummies inflate fully with every breath, like small balloons.

However, as we age, a few of us forget how to breathe.

There are three types of breathing:
•	Low breathing from the diaphragm (this expands the stomach)
•	Middle breathing from the chest (expands the ribcage)
•	High Breathing from the upper chest (results in short shallow breaths)

In order to rejuvenate your life, practice deep breathing, being fully aware of every inhale and exhale. Do not hold your breath too long or breathe too quickly (which will make you dizzy), but takes some time to fill your lungs with a breath of fresh air.

Benefits of Deep Breathing

1.	It releases tension
2.	It releases toxins
3.	It brings
4.	It massages your organs
5.	It improves posture
6.	It strengthens the immune system
7.	It strengthens the heart
8.	It assists in weight control
9.	It elevates mood
10.	It improves digestion

Conclusion

With all these benefits to breathing deeply it would be a good idea to take a moment and use those lungs of yours to their fullest capacity. Just as our bodies die without air to breathe, our souls die if we don’t take time to enjoy it.

And remember, “Breathing is the greatest pleasure in life.” –Giovanni Papini
